Tis the season for holiday parties, whether it is with work, your neighbors, family, church, MOPS groups, etc. Sometimes, these parties can actually take us OUT of the holiday spirit and just become "one more thing" to attend during a hectic season.
Last night I went to a Make, Bake or Buy Party. I had never been to something like this, but really had a great time and enjoyed the creativity of the night. It was with the women of our church, and the idea was to make, bake or buy 6 items to bring to exchange at the party. The goal was for these items to be inexpensive and creative. Nothing over $4 per item in order to make this cost effective.
Based on the number of people you have at your party, you put everyone in groups according to something (last night, we just did colors). All of the items were out on a table, and one group at a time would go to the gift table. That group would have 2 minutes for each person to pick one item. At the end of the night, you would walk away with 6 different items (and ideas) for the holiday.
This was a great way to get crafty and unique ideas, as well as get gifts to give to others. I know I'll be bringing a couple of the items to neighbors as holiday gifts.
Make, Bake or Buy was a great way to still enjoy the holidays together and yet do something a little different. We also each donated one of our items to a women's shelter that our church has partnered with, so there are all kinds of ways to do this sort of activity. We were fellowshipping, enjoying each other's company, and also serving a local women's shelter with holiday gifts!
Have you been to any holiday parties that were unique, and what made it enjoyable?
