This year, my daughters (age 4 and 2) and I created a list of blessings from A to Z! We hope your families enjoy blessed Thanksgivings this year!
A - Ariel (Emily's pet Beta Fish)
B - Brielle Lyn (our newest baby girl due in a week!)
C - Children's Mercy Hospital (We've made three emergency visits to CMH in the past 4 years and we always receive wonderful care and treatment. Last week, Kayla suffered a head injury resulting in 5 stitches and 3 staples... we are very thankful for the wonderful medical care we received and that our girls are safe and sound now!)
D - Daddy (we have the BEST Daddy in the world in our house... and he "can do anything" according to his girls!)
E - Emily Ann (oldest daughter... she is a very loving and sweet big sister, full of energy, creativity, and joy!)
F - Friends (God blessed our family with many wonderful friends and we love to play together!)
G - Grandparents (God blessed our family with grandparents and great-grandparents who ADORE the Light Girls!)
H - Home (We love living in Kansas City with SO MANY fun things to do!!!)
I - Ice Cream (Especially Banana Splits!)
J - Jelly (Peanut Butter Sandwiches are MUCH better with Jelly! EVEN Better if you cut them out in Dinosaur or Princess shapes AFTER you write on them with food coloring markers.)
K - Kayla Esther (middle daughter... our loving little one is full of contagious giggles!)
L - Libraries! (We are very grateful for our local libraries... we love the library's free programs, many great locations from the "GREAT BIG" Central Library, to the "BIG" Plaza Library, to our own Red Bridge Library where all the librarians know our names and have a shelf reserved for our holds - we're big fans of the online request system. We promise to return the Christmas books and DVDs soon so other families may enjoy them too!)
M - Museums (KidScape at the Johnson County Museum, Wonderscope, games of I Spy at the Nelson, memory swapping at the Toy and Miniature Museum, and all the terrific Historic Sites and other great KC Museums are frequented OFTEN by our family - often with friends!)
N - Nature Centers (Lakeside Nature Center was a great location for Emily's I Spy Birthday Party this year, and we LOVE the teachers for the Little Acorns programs at Burr Oak Woods!)
O - Orange Juice ("Best with Blueberry Mickey Mouse Pancakes and Bacon," according to Em.)
P - Polar Bears (We love reading books about Polar Bears and we're very excited to see them at the Zoo this summer!)
Q - Quilts (To Snuggle with on PJ Party Nights at Home.)
R - Raisins (Kayla's favorite snack)
S - Sparkles AND Sprinkles! (If you're having a bad day, my daughters' suggest spraying sparkles in your hair, baking cupcakes with sprinkles, or making an art project with glitter... these things are sure to brighten your day!)
T - Tea Parties (At Home or Madame Hatter's in Bonner Springs)
U - Umbrellas (Especially pink parasols)
V - Van (We love going to fun places in our van!)
W - Waffles ("Waffles are almost as good as (Lamar's) donuts or pancakes," according to Em.)
X - Xylophone and other Musical Instruments (For our "home band" or when playing in Mr. Stinky Feet's band!)
Y - Yesterday (when we played with friends)
Z - Zoo Passes!
These are just a few of the things we're thankful for this year. What blessings are you celebrating in 2009?
