My four-year-old, Ally, has been potty trained for a couple of years. However, staying dry at night has been a different issue. We decided that when she finished the last pack of Pull-Ups we were going to bite the bullet and have her wear underpants at night. Well, so far it’s not going so well. Out of the past 10 days, she has been wet six times. The problem is that she doesn’t wake up and so she is wet all night (the other problem is that I have had to wash her sheets 6 out of the last 10 days).
I was ready to abandon the whole wearing underpants at night deal, say uncle and just keep telling myself what my mom always said “She won’t walk down the aisle still wearing Pull-Ups at night”. But my husband says we shouldn’t give up yet. So, our new plan is to wake her around midnight and take her to the bathroom. Night one of the midnight waking went well. She was dry this morning. I guess my hope is that at some point she won’t need us to wake her anymore as she will be able to wake herself. Does that sound reasonable? If anyone has any other suggestions on what we should try, please pass them along.
