After a visit to this new family entertainment center, my two boys are wondering when they can go back for more. I’d seen a television commercial for Power Play but had no idea how large the facility was until I was given the grand tour. 80,000 square feet, all on one level, makes an impression. No wonder they can handle corporate events for companies such as Sprint and Hallmark while hosting 100 birthday parties in one weekend!
This entertainment venue truly has something for everyone in the family. When I imagine my friends with three or four children whose ages span 10 years visiting here, I believe they would be just as entertained as my two elementary aged boys.
A mural painter must have worked on the walls for weeks! Each of the eight birthday party rooms is painted with a different theme and every wall is covered in custom painted murals. It’s visually appealing without being a distraction.
Mom can relax in a central location with a Starbucks or TCBY treat and keep an eye on the kids. Plan to stay over meal time and take advantage of the very reasonably priced buffet. This is a buffet that’s not just for kids, and by that I mean that it includes much more than the traditional fried chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese! Theirs includes nacho fixings, a pasta bar, a large salad bar, soups, pizzas and more-- all for just $3.99!
When it’s time to play, kids will enjoy two types of go-karts, bumper cars, laser tag, a carnival corner with three theme-park type rides including a tilt-o-whirl, and 250 arcade games! The games work with a plastic card rather than tokens, and points can be stored on the card so that a larger item can be purchased from the redemption center/store after a few visits. The Kid’s Zone for toddlers and preschoolers includes a moon walk and tube and slide climbing structure.
A banquet hall that holds up to 250 people is ideal for a lock-in or teen celebration. As I hear more and more about the after-prom parties and Project Graduation events that are planned each spring, I can’t help but think that this would be an ideal location to keep teens entertained, fed and safe after those milestone events. What teenager wouldn’t enjoy an all night Whirleyball tournament? What is Whirleyball? Imagine a game combining elements of polo and basketball, played 5 on 5, in specially designed bumper cars!
A special menu is available for corporate and adult events which can be held in an area with shuffleboard tables, darts, billiards, virtual bowling and a cocktail bar.
Power Play is a one-of-a-kind venue with attractions that appeal to kids of all ages. I’m actually looking forward to returning -- which we will do as soon as my boys save up some of their cash!
