June is the time we feature Youth Sports in KC Parent Magazine. Everyone knows a picture is worth a thousand words, and we’d like to include five photos of local kids playing sports in this June issue of KC Parent Magazine. This is a fun and free way to get your child's photo displayed in 40,000 issues of KC Parent Magazine. Enter our Sports Photo Contest Today! But first, here are five tips to capture your child the very best in a photo.
- Get down on their level. Taking the photo from their perspective is the first step for successful photography.
- Move in close. Filling the frame with your child shows off all of their strong points – their sparkly eyes and darling smile.
- Use a plain background. The focus of the photo should be on the person not a busy background or a crowd of other children.
- Watch the light. Use natural light as much as possible.
- Practice. Most sports photos require the photographer to be quick and fast to snap the best action possible. Practice capturing action shots ahead of time so you will feel ready and prepared when the action comes.
So snap, snap, snap away. Take a lot of photos to capture just the perfect image! It’s the digital age, and one can take hundreds of photos without paying a dime.
