Get into the Olympic spirit by making these sparkly medals at home with your child. It only requires a few inexpensive materials and a little creativity. Children of all ages will enjoy making their own medals to wear while celebrating the Olympics.
Materials Needed:
- Jar lids
- Foam stick-on shapes (optional)
- Glue
- Foam brush
- Glitter (gold, silver and bronze)
- Ribbon
- Hot glue
Step 1: Find some old jar lids. If you want to add some dimension to the medals, have your child decorate them with different foam stick-on shapes.
Step 2: Mix a little bit of water with white glue. Brush the glue mixture all over the lid.
Step 3: While the glue is still wet, sprinkle glitter all over the lid, covering it completely.
Step 4: After the lid is dry, cut some ribbon to the desired length. An adult can hot glue the ends of the ribbon to the back side of the lid.
Now your child is all set to become an Olympic medalist!
