I have to be honest. I have found my heart discontented lately with the year-round wreath on our door. It's seen better days, that's for sure. The sun has faded it, it's pretty plain (basically just a bunch of hollies on it), and it always leaving me wanting more! It doesn't really count as something that reflects that beautiful season of fall, since it's up 11 out of the 12 months of the year.
Of course, my predicament falls somewhere between not wanting to spend the money on a new wreath that is overpriced and not that complex, and just not feeling creative enough to make one myself. Ever find yourself in this place?
Thanks to the encouragment of my husband, we went to a craft store over the weekend and bought an empty wreath, leaves, and other fall type items that could go on a wreath. I was nervous about this endeavor. What if it didn't look right when I finished? What if I just wasted our money on a craft project that would just end up being put in a box in the basement, never to be seen again? But, I took the plunge, bought the supplies, and started crafting when my daughter was taking her nap Monday afternoon.
I have to say, I'm more than well pleased with the results! My husband was very complimentary, and didn't mind giving himself a little pat on the back to encourage me to JUST TRY. It's funny - before I started out, I had already assumed that I couldn't do something creative, and that it would end up just being a waste of time. What it turned out to be was refreshing, exciting, affirming, and motivating - I already can't wait to put another wreath together for spring!
