I know in these last few days of school it is hard to even remember that summer is almost here. May is filled with soccer games, dance recitals, class parties, graduations, Mother’s Day, teacher’s gift making, and many other important things it is hard to stop and smell the flowers. But, in a few short weeks sumer will be here and in a fleeting moment it’ll be over. And this year I plan to take full advantage of the longer days and the gorgeous weather!
One of the things I love the most is to take long walks with my girls and our (new!) dog, Bella. I have noticed that ending the day with a walk makes even a hard day so much better. Often times, I don’t give myself enough credit for those walks. Credit toward my weekly workout goals. Credit for the good habits it teaches my girls. And credit for the peace and gratitude connecting with nature and being in the fresh air does for all of us.
So, this summer I have a goal to get as many walks in as possible. Long walks, short walks, walking (or even biking!) instead of driving whenever possible. It is a great way to stop and smell flowers, watch the snails, see the new bunnies hopping between the houses, and even watch the sunset (or sunrise!)
To give myself full credit I’ve created a walking chart. You can use this, too! Just print out the Walking Chart and include any other family members you’d like to, and see how many minutes (or miles) you can get in each week. Happy trails!
