My girls and I are attending a six week mother/daughter bible study (written by one of our talented KC Parent freelance writers, Wendy Connelly). This past week dealt with courage and we talked with the girls on how to arm themselves with the Armor of God as they venture out each and every day. Day in and day out I struggle with various issues and with the daily task of raising my girls. When it comes down to it, what I really want for them is to feel sure of themselves and know that with the Armor of God, they can face any situation that is thrown their way during the day. It was such a great lesson for both of my girls that I wanted to share it with you.
Each girl created a poster depicting a young lady clothed with the armor of God, as written in Ephesians 6:10-18. She’s wearing the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth and her feet are fitted with the gospel of peace. She is holding the shield of faith and sword of the spirit. After putting together the poster, each girl was photographed with a warrior helmet as a physical reminder that they are clothed with God’s armor. I framed each poster and hung in Tori and Ally’s room. What a great way for them to start each day, seeing themselves pictured with the helmet of salvation and knowing no matter what, God loves them and is with them.
