There are a lot of things that you could do in just 20 minutes. This summer you could also participate in the National Bible Bee by doing about 20 minutes of studying every day.
The National Bible Bee is a nondenominational ministry focused on equipping families with the Word of God. Here is how the contest works. Between now and May 31, young people, from the ages of 7-18, across the country can sign up to participate in the National Bible Bee. Then on June 1, contest materials will be mailed to their homes. Participants will memorize just two memory cards a week and spend about 20 minutes each day doing an age-based Bible study on a specific book of the Bible. The summer is filled not just with work but with good fellowship and fun activities for the whole family to enjoy, as there are scheduled local activities that families can participate in with other local Bible Bee families. All of this work will culminate with an exciting Local Bible Bee competition on August 24. On this day, contestants from across the country will gather at their local Bible Bee host location and compete to be one of the top 120 finalists in their age division. The competition will include an oral and written part to test the student over the memory passages they have learned and the focus book they have studied throughout the summer. Then on August 28, the exciting news will be released about who the top 120 finalist are in each age division. From there these young people will be given additional Bible verses to memorize and an additional Bible book to study. Then in November, contestants will gather from across the country at the National Bible Bee competition location. These diligent young people will be tested on the material they have learned since June 1, in both an oral and written test. A total of $260,000 is at stake, with the grand prize winner receiving $100,000. Imagine, this could be you!
Participating in the National Bible Bee is an exciting and challenging experience. I have participated in this competition for the past four years. It is a lot of hard work but I know that it is worth it because studying the Bible aids me in 'understanding the times.' As a Christian, it is important that I view everything that happens in this world based on God's frame of reference. There are so many lies that Satan throws at me. The only way that I can discern what Truth is, is from God’s WORD of TRUTH. This is what The National Bible Bee helps me to do. It helps me to know the WORD of TRUTH so that I can be equipped to stand firm against Satan and help defend and advance Christ in this present age. If I am to properly help others who are lost and confused, I need to know what the Bible says. My opinion doesn't matter. What does matter is what the Lord says, because He knows all things. “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” Romans 11:36 God’s WORD in my heart equals God’s SWORD in my hand. It is the training ground for the battle at hand.
