Whew! We sure have had our share of snow days! And while I love the girls being home, I could do without the cold and mess that accompany the snow. Also, it's been since the middle of December that my girls have gone a full week of school. I am going to have some mighty grumpy and mighty tired girls when the do finally go a full week.
A few years ago, my sister-in-law, Anna, shared with me one of the best tips for dressing kids to go out in the snow. Now, maybe you've known this for years and I'm just now catching on, but in case you didn't, I wanted to pass it along because it has been a life saver this winter for my Ally. Let me back up a bit and say that the only time I get out the snow clothes are, obviously, when it snows. So, when Ally was getting ready to go out in the snow and her snow pants were coming up a bit short, I took a peek at the size. 3T. Ally is 6. Needless to say we had a bit of a problem. But then I remember Anna's tip-bread bags! Her mom used to put bread bags over her socks to keep the snow from getting in her boots. I didn't have two bread bags at the time, but I did have two newspaper bags and they worked just as well. Ally played outside in her size 3T snow pants with her feet warm and cozy in newspaper bags.
