Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe that we are closing the door on 2010 and welcoming in 2011. Doesn’t it seem like not so long ago we were concerned about what the year 2000 would bring (remember Y2K?) and now, here we are having completed the first decade of the millennium!
How do you and your kids celebrate? Our celebrations differ from year to year, but the one thing that is consistent with each New Year celebration is that I make it a point to turn back the clocks wherever we are and ring in the “new year” around 9:00 so I can get the girls to bed at a decent hour. However, I think Tori, at age 9, is on to me. Last year when I got back to my mom and dad’s with the girls, Tori questioned why all the clocks there showed a different time than those at the party we had been at. So I think the jig is up and that the girls will be ringing in the new year at midnight. Hopefully if they stay up late it means they will sleep in tomorrow morning (one can dream, right?).
So let’s raise a glass of whatever it is you will be sipping later this evening as we toast the start of the new year-may it be filled with many blessings for you and your family!
