To say we had a roaring good time at Roars and Rainbows at KC Pumpkin Patch sums up our experience perfectly. It’s an adventure that combines mythical creatures and ferocious giants for a day of family fun. We arrived shortly after they opened and didn’t have to wait at all. As we walked into the Cidery Barn, we were greeted with a “live encounter” featuring a baby dinosaur. My youngest really thought the puppet dino was real! Looking around the barn, they had merchandise and mementos, along with snacks for purchase. We also saw animatronic dinosaurs and unicorns. There were photo opportunities galore.

When we walked out of the barn, it felt like we were entering a Jurassic world. There were more animatronic dinosaurs and photo spots. There was so much to see that it took us a couple of minutes to notice the life-size Tyrannosaurus Rex moving ahead of us! Next to him was a slide that went through a T. rex mouth. KC Pumpkin Patch really made this an immersive experience.

Your ticket includes the regular attractions KC Pumpkin Patch offers, like the mega slide (note: there is a height restriction), Slide Mountain, a ninja course, Chalk It, and even an arcade area with games like human pinball, farm skee ball, and my family’s favorite—barnyard ball. You can upgrade your ticket to a Plus Pass that includes a paintball experience (another family favorite), fossil mining, and a dino or unicorn ride. If you want to do at least two of the Plus Pass activities, it’s definitely worth the upgrade! Be sure to visit their website for deals and a coupon code.
The event is rain or shine, and I speak from experience—it really does go on! We had two separate rainstorms while we were there. Each time, after the rain stopped, the staff came out and wiped down slides, tables, and seats. That made this momma happy—though my kids still managed to find every puddle!

They do ask that you not bring outside food or drink. We did bring water bottles, and they let us take those in. They offer plenty of food and snacks for purchase. They even have adult beverages available! Some of the food is themed, like the dino nuggets and fries.
