Kansas City’s Remake Learning Days designed to spark curiosity and a sense of wonder with 150+ events.
The third-annual learning festival returns to Kansas City May 1–15, opening moments of hands-on learning and discovery for children, parents, caregivers and educators.
Returning for the third year, Remake Learning Days takes place across the greater Kansas City area May 1 through 15. The event is paralleled by regional Remake Learning Days festivals happening across 15 regions across the United States and spanning the globe, including festivals in Uruguay, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The majority of events during this multi-day, multi-location festival are free to youth and families.
Remake Learning Days KC invites families to have fun learning together as the greater Kansas City area becomes the classroom with more than 150 events across the city May 1-15. An engaging itinerary from creators and organizations across the area will invite families to:
- Cook up family fun, as they learn to make gourmet pizzas to enjoy together or sell as entrepreneurs with Agape Grow Education Center
- Aim for a good time with an introduction to archery from Missouri State Parks
- Explore coding—and the career pathways it opens up—with sessions by WeCode KC
- Learn about native butterfly species and how surveys support our ecosystem with the Missouri Department of Conservation
- Craft beautiful upcycled jewelry from household items with Re Use Full
- Pilot a drone or operate a robot in a technological adventure hosted by Black Family Technology Awareness Association
- Learn to sing in Swahili during a West African Drum Circle hosted by Kansas City Young Audiences
- And many more events that will open a wide array of topics to children and their families. Click here for the full list of over 130 events in the greater Kansas City area.
Remake Learning Days Kansas City invites children and their families to make space for wonder that unlocks worlds of knowledge and fun through dynamic learning experiences.
“These events spark new avenues for learning and connection. A child can explore bird migration and biodiversity while making a feathered puppet with their grandmother. Teens can envision future careers in healthcare through the Simulation Center at Research College of Nursing—these events are just the beginning of new pathways of discovery,” said Martha McCabe, executive director of the KC STEM Alliance, which is organizing the festival locally.
Dorie Taylor, Producer of Remake Learning Days globally, says organizers have seen overwhelming responses to Remake Learning Days from children, parents, grandparents, and educators.
“I believe that our events resonate because they expand opportunities for curiosity and connection for families as they discover new things together,” Taylor said.
Since its origins in southwest Pennsylvania in 2016, Remake Learning Days has become an unparalleled open house of learning, leading the way in collaborative instruction. The festival has hosted more than 3,700 events across the United States for pre-K through high-school learners at libraries, schools, tech centers, museums, play spaces, community centers and more, reaching over 175,000 families.
Remake Learning Days is funded by The Grable Foundation, led by Remake Learning and supported by partners PBS Kids, Common Sense Media and Learning Heroes along with 15 lead regional organizations. For more information, visit https://remakelearningdays.org/
