It's time to plan for Spring Break and that means many terrific family fun outings, great classes for Kansas City Kids, and Special Spring Break Programs. This is our 2020 guide to Spring Break in KC:

Spring Break Camps in the Kansas City Area
Spring Break Camps fill up fast! Make your reservations today! Camps require pre-registration as slots fill quickly. Some programs offer discounts for residents (through local parks & rec departments) or memberships with attractions.
Kansas City Zoo Spring Break Camp
Our educational programs will continue as scheduled. We have increased our cleaning and disinfecting practices in the spaces used for these programs, so parents can be assured we are taking the utmost care with the health of their children
Spend your week off exploring at the zoo! There’s something for every young scholar in this jam-packed week of day camps.
- Animal Champions March 16-18: Ages: 5-12. Explore the world of animal champions. Who is the fastest and the slowest? Who holds the title for the largest animal on earth? Which animals are the most dangerous and which are harmless? Discover the answers in this 3 Day camp full of activities, experiments, tours and animal encounters.
- Ocean Predators March 19: Lion(fish), Tiger(sharks) and (polar) bears, oh my! Who in the deep blue sea do we need to watch out for?
- Slow It Down March 20: Who is the slowest of the slow? Join us as we talk about the slowpokes of the animal kingdom.
KCYA Spring Break Camp In light of recent events, KCYA is following the lead of Kansas City Public Schools and will be closed effective Friday, March 13 through March 22nd. We will reassess the situation and post an update by March 22. Updates will be posted here: http://bit.ly/2U5WAxA
Spring Break Ceramics Camp March 16-20 at Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center.
JCPRD is taking a number of precautionary measures to protect our patrons, volunteers, and staff, as we continue to monitor the situation. We are working with Johnson County Government partners and referencing peer institutions to make the best decisions. We are prepared to follow all directions provided by public health agencies to mitigate the spread of any virus, including the potential cancellation of future programming for a period of time if necessary. Should that happen, we will notify patrons as quickly as possible and will maintain communication as circumstances change. Until that time, we intend to serve our patrons and our families in the best way possible while working to ensure the continued health of our community.
At this time, all large events and activities, except those that are exempt, have been suspended, postponed, or cancelled. Large public gatherings are those with more than 250 people in attendance or anticipated to attend. Exemptions are being made for governmental and judicial functions, private business operations, religious and faith-based activities, weddings, and funerals.

Themes and Dates:
- Steam Program March 16 - 20 from 9 am - 4 pm at Linwood YMCA/James B. Nutter, Sr. Community Center: Your child will experience robotics, art activities, recreation, technology, field trips and more. Before and aftercare optional.
- Kids Day Out March 16-20 from 8 am - 12pm at North Kansas City YMCA and Platte County South YMCA: At the Y, we know parents need a break from time to time. With Kids Day Out, parents enjoy a morning off while kids engage in games, crafts, and the climbing wall. A healthy snack will be provided.
- Survival Week March 16 - 20 from 9 am - 12 pm at Platte County South (Parkville): During Survival week kids will join in group activities to strengthen their knowledge in survival skills. Activities will include nature walks, crafts, tent set-up races, a visit from our Boy Scouts, and so much more! Kiddos will receive a snack as well.
Spring Break Camp at Ernie Miller Nature Center All Ernie Miller "Spring Fling" programs March 16 - 20 have been cancelled due to social distancing recommendations from health professionals surrounding the COVID-19 or coronavirus outbreak. We are planning for the Nature Center to be open to visitors normal hours, Monday - Saturday 9am - 5pm and Sunday 1 - 5pm.
Lenexa Parks & Rec Spring Break Camps Beginning Monday, March 16, the Lenexa Rec Center, Lenexa Community Center and Lenexa Senior Center are closed and programs associated with those facilities are canceled.
Theatre of the Imagination Spring Break Drama Camp March 16-20 from 10 am-4:30 pm: There is so much drama at our Spring Break 2020 camp! Fun shows, singing & dancing, drama games and more. Tuition $200/week. Optional Before/After: 7:30am-6pm, $240/week. For kids grades K-8th, (what grade they will be in Fall of 2020). 10% multi-child discount. MCC's College for Kids program offers enrichment opportunities for kids and teens ages 5-17 in a fun and safe environment where they can enjoy educational and hands-on learning activities. The classes are designed to engage the youth in new experiences, develop new interests, teach meaningful skills and excite students about learning. College for Kids is available on all Metropolitan Community College Campuses.
- MCC-Blue River Spring Break C4K Class Offerings March 23-26: NASA- Journey Into Outer SpaceFrom our Earth’s atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system, this hands-on program for children ages 7-12 sends them on a quest for exploration! Comets, planets, stars and more are all waiting to be discovered. Learn about the four forces of flight, the challenges of space travel, and participate in a rocket launch! Ages: 7-12 | Mad Science Staff | Fee: $130.00. From 1-4 pm
- MCC-Blue River Spring Variety Art Camp March 23-26: Join us for 4 exciting mornings of drawing and art fun! We’ll stretch the imagination of creativity from drawing Household Pets, to exploring a Fantasy Forest, to experiencing the fun art of Food, and finishing with the amazing Pastel art of Africa’s magnificent Animals! - MCC-Blue River Momentum Madness March 23-26: Join our engineering design team and learn about the engineering of all things that move. Design, build and test rockets, roller coasters and dragsters, and participate in a sumo robot battle with your team. Ages: 6-12 | Engineering for Kids | Fee: $160.00. From 9 am – Noon
- MCC-Blue River LEGO® Mining and Crafting Camp March 23 - 26: Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. Experience the world of Minecraft with LEGO Bricks in this fun engineering camp. Kids will start by crafting their shelters and some of the mobs, critters and tools using LEGO® Bricks. Students will face new challenges each day while building models and crafting key elements from the popular Minecraft game. All campers will bring home a custom mini-figure at the end of the week. Ages: 7-12 | Bricks 4 Kidz | Fee: $140.00. From 1-4 pm
- Free Lunch Care: Free lunch care will be provided if you are attending both a morning and an afternoon Spring Break Camp. Lunch is not provided. You are responsible for packing your child a lunch. Please keep in mind there will not be refrigeration or a microwave available. Our College for Kids team will pick up your child after the morning camp, care for them during lunch, and take them to the afternoon camp. Parents and Guardians will be responsible for picking their child up at the end of each day.
Mid-Continent Public Libraries: In an effort to decrease risk among customers and staff during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Mid-Continent Public Library has taken the following actions, which are effective immediately and will remain in effect until at least April 15:
- Cancelled ALL programs (including storytimes)
- Extended due dates on all currently checked-out items (to April 15)
- Reduced the Library-By-Mail service
- Cancelled outreach efforts by MCPL staff members
- Cancelled all room reservations
At this time, all the of the Library’s branches remain open, and the Library is continuing to promote health and safety within its facilities by increasing its practices of cleaning and sanitizing frequently touched surfaces.
Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop In support of Johnson County, KS Government's state of emergency declaration regarding the COVID-19 Coronavirus, the City will be closing facilities and suspending activities and programs.
Effective Monday, Mar. 16:
• The Olathe Public Library will close.
• The Olathe Community Center and Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm Historic Site will close.
• All Olathe Parks & Rec programming is suspended.
• City facility tours, classes and programs are suspended.
The City anticipates closures and suspensions to continue until further notice. Additions will be updated at OlatheKS.org/Coronavirus.

Spring Break Camp: Grandview A message from Grandview Mayor Leonard Jones about COVID-19 (coronavirus) or read it here: nixle.us/BP9FQ. Mar. 16-20 from 7:30 am-5:30 pm, The View. Camp provides kids a safe place to play, make new friends and learn instead of hanging out in front of a television or on their phones all day. $120/week. Registration includes a weekly fieldtrip, t-shirt, and afternoon snacks. Additional $15/week for early/late drop off (7 am - 6 pm) Daily swimming, rock wall climbing, guest speakers, arts and crafts, games and much more.
School Break Camp: Lee's Summit At this time all recreational programming, activities, leagues, events, childcare and rentals are postponed until further notice effective Saturday, March 14, 2020. This includes all adult and youth activities, fitness classes and paid programming. LSPR facilities and community centers will remain open for the time being, however, as this is a fluid situation, conditions may change. LSPR will provide additional information as it becomes available.
Olathe Kids Crew March 16-20: OKC is provided on Olathe School District teacher in-service/professional days, some holidays, and Winter and Spring break for children in grades K through 6.
