It's time to plan for Spring Break and that means many terrific family fun outings, great classes for Kansas City Kids, and Special Spring Break Programs. This is our 2022 guide to Spring Break in KC:

This guide features two sections: Spring Break Camps and Fun Outings for Families During Spring Break.
Spring Break Camps in the Kansas City Area
Spring Break Camps fill up fast! Make your reservations today! Camps require pre-registration as slots fill quickly. Some programs offer discounts for residents (through local parks & rec departments) or memberships with attractions.

KC Zoo Summer Break Camp
KC Zoo Spring Break Camp This week-long day camp is a fun and educational experience that helps kids learn about animals and nature. Experience hands-on learning, tours, arts and crafts, animal encounters, animal shows, and other fun activities. Camp meets daily from 8:30am - 3:30pm. Cost: $260 per camp (10% off for FOTZ Members)
2022 KC Zoo Spring Break Camp Themes:
- So Defensive: Mar. 14-17, 22-25. Have you ever felt scared? Well, animals do too. Spend a day with us and check out all the awesome ways animals protect themselves. Everything from camouflage to armor to chemicals, like venom… we are going to learn about them all.
- Creature Comforts: Mar. 29-31: Like us, animals need certain things to be comfortable. Discover everything it takes to keep the animals at the zoo comfortable and happy.
KC Young Audiences
KCYA Spring Break Camp March 21-25, 2022: Three themes this year: Main Street Beats, Musical Theatre Camp, and Improv Comedy. Camp begins at 8:30 am, campers may begin arriving at 8:00 am. Full-day campers must bring a sack lunch. Camps conclude with a sharing/performance on Friday if it's safe to do so (see COVID safety protocols below). Extended Daycare is available until 5:30 pm for an additional fee. COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS: Masks, social distancing, and pre-entry health screening required. KCYA will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as necessary. End-of-session sharings and showcases will be held if it is safe to do so. JCPRD Spring Break Camps No matter which of the four Johnson County public school districts your kids attend, JCPRD can help them and the whole family stay busy with about 35 programs being offered for spring break. Different school districts will be observing different spring break dates. Whether your interest is in sports or nature, there’s no shortage of fun things to do. Programs range from kids’ day out programs, to special events to instructional classes to specialty-themed day camps. While many of the spring break programs listed below are for youth, some are for families and/or all ages. Many of them are popular, and most require advance registration. Urban Air Trampoline Park
Urban Air Overland Park and Urban Air Lenexa are open DAILY for open jump and play times for children of all ages. No School Days at YMCA locations For those irregular days when school isn't in session, such as seasonal breaks, conference days, and in-service days, the Y offers No School Days at locations throughout the area. If a child is not registered for Y Club for the school year, a $75 one-time registration fee must be paid by calling 816.360.3390. You must bring a copy of your child’s Emergency Information Packet to the No School Day location. You must bring a sack lunch. A morning and afternoon snack will be served. Read more about what to expect at a No School Day. Tuition for No School Days is non-refundable and non-transferable. No School Days have limited space availability. Register early. All registrations will close one week prior to the scheduled No School Day. Programs are subject to cancellation when low enrollment occurs. Decisions will be made one week before the scheduled program.
ROKC Climbing Yoga and Fitness

RoKC Climbing Yoga and Fitness is a rock climbing, yoga, and fitness center with three locations across the metro that families LOVE. Get your little senders moving this Spring Break! Our Crushers Day Camp during the school break will provide adventure through game-centric climbing instruction. Beginners and pros are welcome a fun-filled camp full of new experiences.
Johnson County Museum
Kids' Day Out Mar. 14-18: Come have fun when school is out! Discover history through hands-on activities and exploration of KidScape and museum exhibits, play games, and enjoy downtime. Bring a lunch, snacks, and water bottle and dress for the weather - we will go outside if we can. We are open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but you may drop off and pick up at any time. Sign up for individual days, or the entire week! The cost is $35/day per child. 5-year-old children can be enrolled if currently attending kindergarten. For program questions call the museum at 913.715.2570. *We require all participants to complete personal information forms for each child that we will keep for the school year. You will receive an email after registration with the form.*
Shawnee Town 1929
Spring Into Shawnee Town March 18 from 10 am-2 pm: Spring Break wouldn’t be complete without a day spent working on the farm! Right? Take your family back in time with an interactive hands-on walk through our 1920s truck farm and town. Kids can help with chores including laundry, tending the chickens, early spring gardening, cooking in the farmhouse, washing cars, working at the grocery store, and more. PLUS enjoy music lessons in our bandstand, available 10:30 am to 12:30 pm! The program is included with general admission and free for Friends of Shawnee Town members. Children MUST remain accompanied by an adult at all times. Outside tables are available for picnicking. Activities will wrap at 2:00 pm, but guests are welcome to tour the site until closing at 4:30 pm.
Mid-Continent Public Libraries
MCPL is hosting a variety of online programs that are both educational and entertaining. You'll find storytime events, performances, and classes for every age and interest in their catalog. Topics include cooking, hobbies, science, history, theater, puppetry, magic, local interest, gardening, and much more. Also, follow MCPL’s Facebook page for more events and ideas.

Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop Mar. 17-19, Enjoy 1860's living history activities such as horse-powered plowing, planting, helping in the garden, and cookstove and blacksmith demonstrations. Stagecoach rides are available weather and ground conditions permitting. $7/adults, $5/children ages 5-11. Olathe residents receive $2 off.
Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation
School Break Camp: Lee's Summit Mar. 11, 21-25, School Break Camp is a recreational program for youth, ages 5 to 11 years old that is operated by Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation. It provides a wide variety of activities including but not limited to: swimming, bowling, skating, field trips, movies, guest speakers, organized games and activities, and much more! Campers are required to bring their lunch. An afternoon snack and drink are provided daily. The camp is staffed by counselors, beginning with high school graduates through college degreed staff; trained in leadership, safety procedures, activities, and supervisor skills. The staff/participant ratio is 1:12. School Break Camp is held on most R-7 No School Days from November - April from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM at Harris Park Community Center.
Ernie Miller Nature Center
Spring Fling Fun Mar. 14-18: Come enjoy spring with a trip to Ernie Miller Nature Park. Visitors are welcome to view the exhibition gallery and hike the trails all week. Park staff will entertain guests with a special program each day at 10 am. Every program will feature live animals. Ages 2 and under free. For more information call (913) 826-2800. Each program is 45 minutes and $4 per person; including adults. Advanced registration required for each day.

Spring Break Slime
Spring Break Slime at Scraps KC Mar. 16 from noon to 3:00 pm. Come hit up our DIY Slime Bar for a fun experience for all ages! We will have ingredients for slime and mix-in options so you can make and take your perfect slime. Drop-in any time between 12 and 3 pm and our staff will guide you through the slime-making experience. Have all the fun and leave the cleanup to us! Space is limited, masks are encouraged, and social distancing will be practiced. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the store.
