Easter is coming to Kansas City and that means it is time for Kansas City's Spring Traditions! If you're like me, you hold dear many childhood memories... whether it is sugar eggs with delicate scenes at Grandma's house or flowers blooming at local parks and gardens.
This weekend the Country Club Plaza welcomes the Easter Bunnies! On March 16th, the Country Club Plaza makes its annual transformation into an Easter Wonderland (the bunnies are there through April 9th, 2012). Every year we take the girls to capture some photos... some sweet, some funny (every new baby has their turn in the bill of the Pelican), and some very honest and candid capturing what life is really like with young children.
When I was a girl, my grandmother would get Panoramic Easter Eggs every year. The sugar creations were beautiful and fun... we loved peeking inside to see the pictures. I was excited to learn recently that Mely's Yogurt & Ice Cream in Corinth Square (4051 Somerset, OPKS. 913.381.9642) sells beautiful panoramic eggs in their shop!
And then there are beautiful Ukranian Easter Eggs. My husband's paternal grandmother is of Czech heritage and making the eggs is a custom. Many years ago, I took classes at the Strawberry Hill Museum learning to make batik eggs. This year, the museum is offering classes once again on March 18, as is Powell Gardens on March 31.
What are your most beloved Easter Traditions?
