This morning, our family had the chance to ride the brand-new 150-foot-tall KC Wheel at Pennway Point. The KC Wheel is the centerpiece of downtown Kansas City's newest entertainment district and it features 36 completely enclosed, climate-controlled six-passenger gondolas with floor to ceiling windows offering a 360-degree view of downtown Kansas City.
A Few Quick Facts:
- Guests may upgrade to the VIP gondola (the one we rode), a black gondola with plush seating, low light, music, one drink per ticket and a photo package. Currently the VIP package is one sale for $25/ea through the end of 2023. As a grand opening deal, they are also offering discounted gift cards.
- You may purchase two rides for $30 gift cards as a stocking stuffer or gift and it is valid to redeem through Dec. 31, 2024.
- All regular gondolas are fully wheelchair accessible.
- The ride is open rain or shine from 10am-10pm.
- Tickets are available for purchase online only at kcwheel.com with a limited time opening price of $15 to experience the KC Wheel, $12 for Pennway Putt minigolf. Save an additional $2 per Pennway Putt admission when purchased with a KC Wheel admission. Tickets must be purchased online for designated times. Operating hours for the KC Wheel will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. December 15 through January 2, 2024.

After our ride, we checked out the KC-themed Pennway Putt 16-hole minigolf course located at the foot of the wheel. The course features a red arrowhead hole for the Chiefs, a blue crown for the Royals, and signage featuring the miniature golf park's mascot, Lovie (inspired by KC's famous hearts). Decorations include artwork emblazoned with fountains, local landmarks and a cartoon pig on the run for barbecue. The personalization of the course with Kansas City inspiration throughout makes it truly unique as a destination course.
KC Wheel and Pennway Putt at Pennway Point are the city's newest attractions for family outings, date nights, and fun with friends. In 2024, Pennway Point will welcome the Wheel House offering beer, wine, soda, chicken tenders, fries, sandwiches, and ice cream. Additionally, the site will be home to the Neon Museum featuring a vintage collection of neon signs from local businesses and landmarks.
