Lenexa Rec Center
The Lenexa Rec Center offers a lot of amenities, including an indoor pool with slides, a lazy river, a kiddie pool, and a warm water wellness pool. The pool also offers swim lessons. If you’re a member of the Lenexa Rec Center, the pool is free; otherwise, the cost is $9 for Lenexa residents and $12 for non-residents.
Also in the Rec Center is the activity gym: a fully enclosed gym space that has a wide variety of uses. The Rec Center hosts many scheduled events in the activity gym, but people can use the space freely when there isn’t an event taking place. The activity gym has built-in soccer goals as well as court lines for pickleball and dodgeball.
The second gym in the facility is on the second floor. This gym is less open, as it can only be used for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. Open-play basketball is always available, and volleyball and pickleball are available on a rotation.
The third floor of the Rec Center is the fitness floor, housing gym equipment and an indoor walking track. You must be 16 or older to use the equipment freely, but children ages 12-15 can use it after taking a youth equipment orientation.
If you’re bringing children with you while you work out or take a fitness class, they can have fun in the Kid Zone. In the Kid Zone, children up to 11 years old will have supervised playtime for a maximum of 2 hours at a time. There are many toys and craft materials, and an indoor climbing wall and basketball hoops so they can get their own exercise.
