DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 11\, 2026\n10 am to 1 pm\n(10 to 11 am is sensory friendly – no horns or sirens) \nShawnee Mission Park in the Theater in the Park parking lot\n7710 Renner Road\, Shawnee\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Details\nHave you ever wondered what the inside of that big rig or tractor looks like? Do you have a child who LOVES trucks? Bring them out to the parking lot of the Theatre in the Park\, located in beautiful Shawnee Mission Park\, to explore trucks\, tractors\, construction\, and city vehicles up close. \nCrawl\, climb\, and sit in the driver’s seat and talk with the real life operators of these vehicles. Check out the featured character tow truck\, as well as many other kids favorites.  The first hour of the event will be sensory-friendly with no horns or sirens for those who prefer this event a bit quieter. \nINCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event there is inclement weather on Saturday morning\, our event will be canceled.  Johnson County Park and Recreation District will post this event status on our Facebook page at 9:30 am on Friday\, April 10 and will also post an update on this page. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBenefiting Special Olympics & Adaptive Recreation programs\nAdmission to this three-hour event is free\, but a donation of $10 per family is suggested at the gate. Donations made at the event or through The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Johnson County support JCPRD’s Adaptive Recreation programs.

DESCRIPTION:Spring Homeschool Days: Thursday\, April 24\, and Friday\, April 25. Registration now open!\n\n \n\nActivities may include: visiting the 1865 Mahaffie House\, cookstove and blacksmith demonstrations\, playing 1860s games\, and visiting exhibits in the Agricultural Heritage Livestock Barn and the Heritage Center. The theme for Spring Homeschool Days is the Santa Fe Trail!  \n \nCost is $7/student\, ages 5-17\, ages 4 & under are free\, includes all activities and the student stagecoach ride. One free adult admitted per paid student. One adult must ride with the students for the stagecoach ride. Additional adults are $7. For example\, if two adults and one student are in a group\, one adult is admitted free\, one adult will need to pay. If all students are ages four and under\, each adult must pay $7. Thank you for understanding.  \n \nFamilies are invited to enjoy activities at their own pace. You can visit each station at your leisure during the open house format during your registered time. Please allow at least 60 minutes for your visit.\n \nEach session limited to 150 participants. All ages welcome and please register students ages 5-17 only. \n \nMahaffie staff and volunteers are dressed in 1860s clothing at each activity.\n\n\n
