Winter Editor's Letter

A look into a person’s Google search history can reveal many things. Mine can tell you that I don’t know much about algebra or world history. When my girls come to me needing homework help, more often than not, Google is what helps them with their homework. My history also can tell you we recently purchased a car and that we have a new driver in the house. Check the search history of new parents and, after about two minutes, you’ll be able to tell there’s a new baby in the house. These little people come with so many questions and no instruction manual. Being overwhelmed by all those questions is all too easy. Local mom Lauren Cook takes a lighthearted look at a new mom’s Google searches and questions. Remember, new moms and dads, you got this!

Hearing those words, “You’re pregnant!” or seeing the at-home test show a positive result brings a flood of emotions, everything from surprise to excitement to a little bit of worry! Because of this, we’ve devoted this issue to everything pregnancy. Test your pregnancy IQ with our quiz, discover why your body is acting strangely and what it means, figure out whether maternity clothes are worth the investment and so much more! These next months will speed by, and before you know it, you’ll be holding your very own person in your arms. And, in every issue, we have our Labor & Delivery Guide to help you decide the best place for you to have your baby. Head to the virtual guide at KCParent.com for videos, maps and even more info!

Short, cold days may cause kids (and parents) to feel a bit stir crazy! Never fear! We’ve got a list of great outings for tiny tots on cold days.

Stay warm, KC moms and dads!
