The Fall and Winter Months Are Prime Time for Entertainment Around Kansas City.

          The Kansas City Repertory Theatre is well known for its wildly popular holiday show Dickens’ A Christmas Carol Nov. 16 through Dec. 30 in the Spencer Theatre. You can find a wide variety of shows all through the fall and winter, including Last Days of Summer, Sept. 7-30, a new musical about baseball, hero worship and true friendship. Steinbeck’s classic Of Mice and Men plays Oct. 19 through Nov. 11. Indecent, which runs Jan. 18 through Feb. 10, is inspired by true events surrounding the controversial Broadway debut of God of Vengeance. The hilarious School Girls; or The African Mean Girls Play runs Feb. 22 through March 17, and be sure to catch Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice March 22 through April 14.

     The Coterie, Kansas City’s professional children’s theater, is housed in the iconic Crown Center on the first floor. Becoming Martin, running Sept. 18 through Oct. 21,

is a world premiere centering on the mentorship Martin Luther King, Jr., receives when he enters Morehouse College at age 15. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical, based on the animated television special, is back by popular demand Nov. 6 through Dec. 30. Catch Secret Soldiers: Heroines in Disguise, a co-production with UMKC Theatre, Jan. 22 through Feb. 10. The play portrays the true accounts of four women who, for different reasons, served as men in the Civil War. Mr. Popper’s Penguins is a charming musical of the Newbery Honor Book by Richard and Florence Atwater, running Feb. 26 through March 31 .

     Color outside the lines as you dine at the Crayola Café and enjoy the colorful décor and playful accents.      Mesner Puppet Theater, located at 1006 Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO, is celebrating its 30th performance season as a globally-known professional puppet theater. The company performs a local season of plays and tours internationally, performing to more than 30,000 audiences annually. Check their website for shows.

     The Kansas City Ballet performs at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and will perform The Wizard of Oz in October and The Nutcracker during the holiday season. Dine at the center’s own Founders’ Lounge for fresh, local flavor or Los Tules, one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in town, just across the street.

You may think Starlight Theatre is only hopping during the warmer months, but never fear. The new Indoor Series of shows provides entertainment year-round. The live indoor theater series called Starlight Indoors features small comedies, musicals, parodies and other unconventional shows presented inside the heated performance space of Starlight’s Cohen Community Stage House.
