McLain’s Bakery (locations in Kansas City, Overland Park and Lawrence, KS) The original bakery opened in Waldo in 1945. Famously baking cookies and pastries from scratch, the bakery is now owned by another local family carrying on the tradition. The shop is famous for their chocolate cup cookies and other freshly baked desserts.
