Book Lover's Cupcakes

Do you have a book worm in the family? Natalie's mine...she's always into reading. She started young, and continues to love pretty much anything with pages, a few pictures and something even just a little bit interesting to say. I think that's how you know a true book lover. People will ask me what she likes to read, or what books would I recommend, or what books did she start with? And I have always said, she'll read anything! She'll read the cereal box at breakfast, she'll read her 3 year old sister's library book, or she'll read a juicy kids book about stinky boys and spunky girls.

Sometimes it makes me a little nutty, like Junie B. and her awful grammar, or Clementine who is always in the principal's office (or is that Mallory?) and Judy Moody (or Cam Jansen?) who calls her brother names. But, I've let go of steering her toward certain books, (except of course Charlotte's Web, which we read -- and cried -- together) and let her read and learn about crushes and pranks and even sleep-away camp. As Natalie's always told me, "books can take you places!" And she's right.

So, for her half-birthday on Monday (also National Reading Day, and no I didn't plan that!) we decided to do book cupcakes. I tried to pick most of her favorites, although there are only 23 students in her class, so we had to edit down the list a bit. And now, you can have them too!

Here are the tiny books (print this PDF) -- just print them and glue or tape to toothpicks to add to the cupcakes. Hopefully her class enjoyed treats that we as good for their minds as their tummies!
