It's Strawberry Picking Time! Local patches are opening for the season.

Strawberry Picking Tips:
- Call ahead or check the farm's Facebook Page (linked in the title of each farm) to verify picking times, as they vary from farm to farm. This is a MUST!
- Remember comfortable shoes (you will be walking in the fields) and wear sunscreen.
- Bring bottled water and pack a picnic if the farm allows.
- And, don’t forget your camera… children enjoying a day at the farm make a great photo op!

We would love to bring Benny’s Berries back near our original location in south KC—please check back with us in the winter to see where we are with our plans. - Status as of 3/15/2021: We've seen temps rise and fall over the last few weeks and now it's almost the Vernal equinox, when the Sun is exactly above the Equator and day and night are of equal length! It is for this reason that we are sending you a heads up that we will not be open this spring for plant sales. We will, however, be working diligently on our fall lineup of activities and grounds to present our sunflower fields, garden mum crop, apple orchard, u-pick vegetable patch, pumpkin fields and of course the super fun family play yard. You can expect some upgrades to all of those attractions as well as the finished greenhouse project. We know that you will love the new additions for which you can see updates here.

- Status as of 5/26/19: Red Barn Ranch is no longer officially in the strawberry business, however we kept a few plants for friends and family to pick from. This year those plants (about 2000 of them) produced like crazy and we can't eat them all ourselves! Because you are all such great customers we have decided to give away the berries that we have on the farm this year FREE of charge first come first serve. Please bring your own container and come out and follow the signs to park and pick! It will be totally self serve and open for picking, weather permitting, during daylight hours now until we run out! We anticipate they will go very fast so don't wait too long!! Once they are gone we will try and post to let everyone know we are out! If you would like to try a bigger patch with guaranteed berries after ours runs out we recommend going to Buckeye Acres in Warrensburg. They are a great family with amazing produce and awesome farm that is definitely worth visiting! Happy picking and can't wait to see you all in the fall!!!

- Status as of 5/6/2021: Happy Spring from all of us at SPF! Our flowers are in full bloom and are available At the Leavenworth Farmers Market this Saturday! The patio pots and hanging baskets make perfect gifts for Mother’s Day! We do not have the strawberry patch any longer. However, seasonal produce will be available this summer. Stay tuned for updates throughout the next few months!
