Making Mother's Day Memorable

by

In a perfect world we'd honor and celebrate our moms much more often than once a year. Help make the best of Mother's Day by leaving a few hints so the day is one you'll cherish. We asked our readers for some of their favorite Mother's Day traditions and threw in a few of our own.

Photo Opportunity. If you don't have time for a formal portrait sitting, call a neighbor and ask them to take a few pictures of the family outside in the yard. The spring's bright green backdrop will be perfect. So often Mom is the one taking the pictures....she's noticeably absent from most family albums!

Brunch somewhere new. Mother's Day is the busiest days of the year for restaurants. Make sure to call ahead for a reservation! Try something off the beaten path or consider a picnic packed by Dad and the kids at a favorite park, along Brush Creek or the zoo. Moms get in free at the zoo on Mother's Day and get free ice cream!

Work for you, book for her. Give mom a good book and then tell her to relax while the rest of the family takes care of the laundry, the dishes and other household chores. Take mom a beverage or a snack every once in a while so you can see the smile on her face while she relaxes and watches the work get done.

A Day at the K. Does mom enjoy the great American pastime? The Royals are playing on Mother's Day and are giving pink shirts to the moms!

Gifts She'll Love

Meals for a week. A gift certificate to a meal prep kitchen will make her life easier for many days!

Charmed, I'm sure. A charm bracelet that can be added on to for years makes gift giving in the future just a little big easier. Or get her a keepsake Mother's Bracelet from Paco Designs.

A clean house. If a cleaning service doesn't fit into your budget on a regular basis, give mom a gift certificate for a one time full house cleaning. Many companies offer discounts to first time customers.

Pampered with Love. Wrap up a few bottles of nail polish and a gift certificate for a manicure, pedicure or both. Now that spring has arrived, the toes are coming out of hibernation!

A gift for now and later. Print up coupons that mom can use throughout the year. Ideas for coupons include a night off from making dinner, a back rub, mom's movie choice, etc.

Write it down. Simply write mom a note telling her how much you appreciate her and all that she does for you. Sometimes these are the most treasured gifts!

XXXOOO. Don't forget about hugs and kisses for mom on Mother's Day and every day.
