Christian Youth Theater: A Class for Life

Christian Youth Theater, or CYT, is a performing arts class for children ages 5-18. You do not necessarily have to be a Christian to enroll in CYTChristian Youth Theater invites all religions under its wings.  Its goal is to provide a wholesome haven for children to learn about modest acting, singing, dancing, and the best of Christian classics.

CYT is made up of classes.  In the spring, fall, and winter, CYT has many classes to pick from, such as an opera class, a melodrama class, an improv class, or even classes made to perform a miniature play of a favorite movie! These classes offer a small snack, praise and worship at the end of each class, and special prizes for well-behaved younger youth.

CYT is much more than just classes, however.  It offers year round plays for which you can audition.  To audition, you must simply participate in a CYT class during that season.  (For example, if a play you desire to audition for takes place in the spring, then you must enroll for a spring CYT class.)

Any CYT play cannot stop there.  All scripts are filtered of any inappropriate content, assuring parents of a safe production for their children. If you try out for a play, you will almost be guaranteed to get a part.  Although not every child can be the star, they all get to share the limelight, and any boastful actions are not accepted. During the various plays Christian Youth Theater puts on a year, it tries to spread out the "fame" to the children, giving many a little chance to shine.  You are guaranteed to have a blast!

During the summer, CYT offers several day camps for kids.  In each camp, the pupils will memorize hilarious  lines, dances, and songs, all in the name of fun!  On the final day of camp, the participants perform their skits in front of their family and friends.

Younger campers-ages 5 through 7-are allowed half-day camps, which usually range from 9:00 am- 12:00 pm.  Their camps, as well as their classes during the rest of the year, are referred to as "Our Gang." Adolescents between ages 12 and 18 are allowed to attend overnight camps, where the students will be carefully chaperoned.

Do you know someone with special needs who would like to attend CYT? Christian Youth theater offers the HEART (Helping to Encourage Awareness and Recognition in Theater) program for classmates with special needs.  if someone you know has Down syndrome, Autism, or any other kind of "disability", HEART may be just the place for him or her!

By now, you might be very willing to look into a CYT class.  For closer relationships, classes are divided into three categories: The younger children (ages 5-7), the elementary-aged children (ages 8-12), and the teenagers, (ages 12-18).

No matter what class and age group you sign up for, you will be expected to be on your best behavior; likewise, any inappropriate behavior is not acceptable.

On a last note, Christian Youth Theater promises to do the best to teach you, entertain, and help you to be your very best.  CYT indeed, is a class for life.
