DIY Father's Day Gift

A Father’s Day gift can sometimes be hard to come by. I am guessing dad doesn’t need another tie, great dad t-shirt, or even BBQ sauce. But photos of the kids or grandkids are always popular (and change a lot from year to year!) So, how about this year instead of the regular mugs, you add a creative twist? Create a special photo opp by having the kids spell out the word “DADDY” by holding letters in the photo, and then put them together.

Get the cute 12” letters from any craft store to spell out whatever word you want to use (we do Daddy, you could do Dad, Papa, Gramps, whatever!) And decide on your configuration. If you have three kids and use DAD you can take it all at one time in one photo. Or, for 5 kids and DADDY it works, too! I have two kiddos though so I took the photos individually and matted them individually, too. So, in my case I really only needed to buy 3 letters: A, D and Y, as we weren’t using more than one D at a time.

I spray painted the letters a cute, bright color that would contrast the girls matching dresses. Or, if you’re not much of a painter, leave them white and put the kids in something bright!

Then, snap away! Frame accordingly, and watch dad’s face light up when he sees a super cute gift he’ll love for years. Happy Father’s Day to all of the awesome KC dads!
