Go Explore the Northland

Enjoy Worlds of Fun, Kansas City’s theme park, home to thrill rides and excitement. Classics at the Missouri park, like Cyclone Sam’s and Bamboozler, take riders on a spin like no other, while Fury of the Nile makes an unforgettable splash. No trip is complete without a ride on Patriot and Mamba, two of the park’s most thrilling coasters. Kids love Planet Snoopy, home to classic amusement park rides and live shows. In October, families enjoy the Great Pumpkinfest, a fall celebration with the Peanuts Gang, and Halloween thrill-seekers are spooked at Haunt. During the holiday season, make memories at the annual WinterFest, where you’ll meet holiday characters, enjoy festive food and live entertainment.

Liberty is home to Carolyn’s Country Cousins, one of the largest pumpkin patches in the region. With a jack-o’-lantern jumping pillow, pig races, petting zoo, peddle karts, train rides, panning for gold, creative play spaces, live entertainment, and fall-themed fun, this is a favorite autumn tradition. Historic Downtown Liberty is home to the Jesse James Bank Museum, site of the first recorded daytime bank robbery. On the square, enjoy local cafes, boutiques, and shops. For entertainment, catch a live show at the Corbin Theatre, where you can enjoy musical theater, live music, and stage shows. And, enjoy the Liberty Symphony, whose annual holiday concert is a family tradition for many Northlanders.

Winter sports are beloved in Kansas City. You can take a spin on the ice at one of the local rinks, including Line Creek Ice Rink and Linden Square Ice Rink in Gladstone. In November, families compete in turkey bowling on the ice at Line Creek Arena. Shoal Creek Living History Museum features 20 structures, including clapboard houses, a school, antebellum brick mansion home, a church, and log cabins. Covering more than 80 acres of beautiful rolling hills, the site brings 19th-century Missouri to life through special events, programs, tours, and reenactments, including the Harvest Festival in October and Visit with St. Nicholas in December.
