Help Feed Families in Our Community

There are families struggling with hunger in our community. You can help.

The economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has meant lost jobs and wages for many families, some of whom were already finding it difficult to make ends meet. Youthfront’s partner food pantries and agencies are seeing a dramatic increase in need, and they’ve asked us to package as many of our Something to Eat meals as we can provide.

Two ways you can help:

1.) Package meals for families You can assist by packing meals for distribution to food pantries in our community. Due to the essential nature of food distribution, Something to Eat has been able to adjust its packing program to provide meals under the current COVID-19 CDC and food code guidelines. Groups of fewer than 10 who have been quarantined together in one household can volunteer for a timeslot to package meals at Youthfront’s facility, which has been specifically set up for small group meal packing under the current state guidelines. A donation to assist with the cost of the meals is requested if you and your household would like to volunteer to package. Learn more and sign up.

2.) Fund meals for families Support volunteers by covering the costs of meal packaging. Every dollar makes a difference - just $30 can provide 100 meals for those in need. Your gifts will go directly - and quickly - to meet the immediate need in our community. We also have creative ways for you to teach your kids about food insecurity and give back. Our downloadable materials are also great for “virtual dinner” parties that can support Something to Eat during this pandemic. Learn more and give.

Something to Eat was launched by Youthfront nearly a decade ago to give youth and groups an opportunity to serve by feeding the hungry in our community. In that time, youth and other volunteers - schools, churches, businesses - have packed millions of meals for local and global distribution. Something to Eat also offers a curriculum for youth about food insecurity as part of their packing service. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the traditional packing parties for youth are not being held, and instead we’re offering the opportunity for small groups to package by household.
