Tick Tock Escape Rooms: Karaoke Party

I've reviewed Tick Tock Escape Rooms on KCParent.com before and have consistently enjoyed this family-friendly venue in the heart of Overland Park. Recently, we were invited back to check out a new escape room AND host a party in their BRAND-NEW Karaoke Space. So, how was it?
Our group gave the entire experience an enthusiastic two thumbs up!
Tick Tock Escape Rooms offers single rooms for groups of 6-10 (read about Pyramid Paradox here), and duplicate rooms for racing (read about racing rooms here). They offer five different themed rooms with five different concepts - it's a blast to try them all.
We decided to split our party into two groups - the younger / novice escapers participated in Pyramid Paradox (our FAVORITE for first-timers), and the teen/college/adult group participated in Cyber Strike (our first time in this room).
After completing the Escape Rooms, we held a Karaoke Party in their new event space.
About the Escape Rooms:
For the uninitiated, an escape room is an interactive game where teams of friends are "locked" into a small room for an hour while they solve puzzles and clues to unlock the room. The rooms typically include props and a series of puzzles each unlocking the next until you escape, hopefully, in an hour or less. If you fail, the staff releases your team and takes a photo wishing you the best next time.
TIck Tock Escape Games in Overland Park offers several fun rooms. We completed Pyramid Paradox on a past visit - and it was great (read about it here).
This time, I was in the Cyber Strike room with teens/college / and adult friends. This is a great room for this audience. (Pyramid Paradox is an ideal family / all-ages room.).
Before we began, we were introduced to the "plot" of Cyber Strike. From Tick Tock, "A wave of Cyber Strikes have targeted high profile organizations around the world. We intercepted a signal with the same data signature that hit our Central Intelligence field office. Your mission is to find the signal’s source and shut it down. This is a high-risk operation, if you fail we’ll disavow all knowledge of you and your actions."
Cyber Strike required a variety of analytical puzzle-solving skills, especially emphasizing communication and teamwork. With "vintage" computers as props and tools to solve the puzzle, the threat of poisonous gas, and numerous chambers to explore, our group (ages 17-40+) had a blast!
Each team works together to solve puzzles to unlock doors, turn dials, move objects, and solve clues to break out of the escape room in time. We've found that our favorite rooms are rooms where each member of the team works to solve the puzzle, there are many styles of puzzles to solve, and the special effects of the room add to the creativity and fun. This room was outstanding, as we've found all rooms at Tick Tock Escape to be.
After working together to solve patterns, technical puzzles, and unravel word clues we broke out! A staff member took a team photo of each team at the end of the game with your score. To keep the mystery, they do not allow photography or recording of the room while you're solving the riddles. Each new team wants to start with a fresh spoiler-free experience.
About the Karaoke Party:
After Escaping we headed to the newly remodeled party room (we LOVE the white brick, party lights, and fun ambiance), where our group enjoyed a barbecue dinner (bring your own food), a few card games (we brought some to enjoy), and Karaoke.
The beautiful party room, complete with party lights, offers tables and a small kitchen space with a counter, fridge, and sink. We brought our own buffet of pulled pork sandwiches (crock pot), sides (stored in their fridge until serving time), sodas, and cookies. In the past, we've ordered pizza to be delivered to Tick Tock Escape Rooms and had it arrive once we'd finished our rooms. Both options work really well in the space.
The Karaoke system is fun and easy to use. You can search the catalog of songs by song title, artist, or album. We found a wide selection of music from all eras and genres. Parents selected nostalgia from their youth, teens selected dance numbers (Footloose, Macarena, etc), and everyone chose a mix of favorites to sing ranging from Broadway musicals to Hip Hop, to Country to Jazz. The words are displayed on a large television screen so you can sing along, two microphones are provided along with a stage, and you can choose whether to have vocals with each song and adjust the tempo and volume. Almost everyone in our group attempted to sing and/or dance to a few tunes and everyone had a blast!
Located in Overland Park, near the Convention Center, the location was ideal for our family, making an excellent idea for upcoming birthdays, holidays, family reunions, couples' night out, or groups of friends. Children may participate, but most likely you'll want those ages 12 and up (approximately) for skill level. For an adult day out, we had a blast!
I highly recommend Tick Tock Escape Rooms for your next adventure. This is one of the very best escape rooms in Kansas City, you'll have a blast!
