Thankful Thoughts

I enjoy reading newspaper and magazine columns, especially humor columns. Dave Barry is one of my favorite national writers, while locally I have always enjoyed Joe Posnanski’s columns in the paper. Each year I loved to read Joe’s Thanksgiving column in which he gave a running list of things he was thankful for and so borrowing from Joe, below is my Thanksgiving list of what I am thankful for in 2009.

Here goes, in no particular order. I am thankful for…

A warm bed on a cold morning, WoodWick candles, Chipotle burrito bowls, organ donors, U2 releasing a new album and touring, a fantastic trip to Disneyworld (and great weather on the trip), Dream Dinners and Social Suppers for feeding my family this year, not having to make Thanksgiving dinner, the way my house smells in the morning, Pumpkin Spice and Peppermint Mocha Lattes from Starbucks, catching up with old friends on Facebook, reading a book in our hammocks out back, the Fab Five (and no, I don’t mean Fab Four or the Beatles), an empty laundry basket, my bunko group, Imo’s shredded provolone cheese, nights that Ty makes dinner, Sylas and Maddy’s French toast ice cream, pumpkin pancakes at IHOP, Rock Band, taking walks, riding bikes with my oldest, playing go fish with my youngest, date nights with Ty, cars that start, soft and fuzzy socks, weekends without any plans.

And now for the big finish…for our home, food on the table each night, a job that I love and that allows me to be a mom and wife first and then an employee, great friends, continued good health, two daughters that bring more joy and love into my life than they could ever imagine and a husband who is my partner and best friend.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
