With the official start of fall just around the corner, it only felt right to load up the carseats and head to the iconic Louisburg Cider Mill. A true KC tradition, Louisburg needs no introduction to locals—it’s a pillar of fall fun and one of those places that makes the season feel complete.
We started our day at the Country Store, where shelves of ciders, sodas, and other country treasures set a charming tone. Live music drifted through the air, adding to the cheerful atmosphere as we browsed.
Just a short walk away, the Family Farm awaited—a haven for kids (and kids at heart). With no lines in sight, we bounced from one attraction to another: the corn maze, wagon rides, tire mountain, giant swing set, farm animals, and more. The jump pillow and corn crib quickly stole the spotlight, while the dads in our group got fiercely competitive at the lassoing station—a highlight for spectators, too.

I loved the festive photo ops scattered throughout the farm—perfect backdrops for family pictures and my baby’s first fall scrapbook page. (If you’re planning your little one’s first autumn in KC, you’ll find even more ideas on our Baby’s First Fall Bucket List!) My little guy couldn’t get enough of the friendly goats, who happily greeted him at the fence. The corn maze turned out to be a highlight and a fun way to sneak in some extra steps!
KC Parent Pro Tip: We recommend heavy duty strollers or wagons that can navigate uneven terrain and grass well. We actually opted to just keep our little one in the carrier and that worked great!

Afterward, we cooled off with signature cider from the nearby Snack Shack. My new fall favorite? The Pear Cider—though truly, every flavor was crisp and refreshing. And let’s talk about the Apple Cider Donuts: baked fresh daily, perfectly spiced, and absolutely worth the trip alone. Made fresh daily, they taste like autumn in every bite. The ample amount of pavilion covered picnic tables were also much appreciated as we munched on our treats in the shade.
Louisburg Cider Mill also hosts its annual CiderFest, held the last weekend in September and the first weekend in October. It’s a true community celebration, featuring local artisans, handmade goods, live entertainment, and of course plenty of cider and donuts. If you’re looking for the quintessential fall outing, this event is a can’t-miss.

Before we left, my husband and I were already plotting our return—this time to try a fire pit rental. For $60, you get 3.5 hours with a private site complete with picnic tables, hay bale seating, and plenty of firewood for marshmallow roasting. Each site accommodates 25–30 guests, making it ideal for birthday parties, group outings, or a cozy night with friends. Weekend spots go fast, so reserving early is a must!

Louisburg Cider Mill is the kind of place kids never outgrow—babies, big kids, and parents all find something to love. We can’t wait to return year after year with our son as he grows, making new memories each fall.
Louisburg Cider Mill is located at 14730 K-68 Highway, Louisburg, KS 66053, just 20 miles south of Kansas City. Hours are Monday–Saturday, 8am–6pm, and Sunday, 9am–6pm. Whether you’re coming for cider, donuts, CiderFest, or a day on the farm, it’s the perfect way to welcome the season!
