Festival of Lights at Powell Gardens
to
The Powell Gardens Festival of Lights offers a unique holiday experience that is unseen before in the Kansas City area. A lighting exhibition, artfully curated by the Powell Gardens Horticulture staff, the Festival of Lights includes botanically-themed lighting displays that begin at the garden entrance and stretch along a winding pathway through six of the seven themed gardens.
The walking portion of the spectacular display begins in the Grand Hall of the Visitor Education Center with a giant tree, poinsettias and other holiday favorites. The path stretches nearly a mile and guests experiencing the serene setting of the Gardens at dark will be surprised and delighted as they encounter dazzling moments hidden throughout the gardens. Beautifully lit flower sculptures and illuminated insects will dot the landscape and visitors will see bedazzled trees in the Perennial Garden, a light tunnel in the David T. Beals Woodland & Stream Garden, glowing lotus flowers and cascading pools of lights in the Island Garden, a light installation spanning the Meadow & Pavilion, and fanciful up-lit displays through the newly completed Magnolia Walk.
