Visit KC and T-Mobile Center both continue to list it as a basketball-focused attraction tied to Kansas City’s college hoops identity.

Snow Creek is the Kansas City area’s winter destination with man-made snow for skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing, offering families a seasonal mountain-style outing close to home. Located in western Missouri, the resort features lessons for beginners, tubing sessions, night operations and terrain supported by full snowmaking coverage, making it a popular choice for both first-timers and returning winter sports fans.

Independence Community Ice is a year-round ice facility that gives families plenty of ways to get on the ice, from public skating and themed events to hockey, figure skating and beginner lessons. The venue also offers Learn to Skate and Learn to Play programs for a range of ages and skill levels, making it a great option for both casual fun and more structured instruction.

The only outdoor ice rink in Johnson County, the Ice at Park Place is Leawood’s seasonal outdoor ice rink, offering families a festive place to skate alongside restaurants, shopping and special winter events. Park Place describes it as Leawood’s only outdoor ice rink, open daily weather permitting from mid-November through March 1, with options for group outings, parties and themed skate events throughout the season.

Crown Center Ice Terrace is a longtime Kansas City winter tradition and is known as the city’s only public outdoor ice skating rink. Located at Crown Center, it gives families a fun seasonal activity in the middle of a larger entertainment district with shops, dining and nearby attractions, and Crown Center materials note that it typically operates daily from November into late winter. 

Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center is one of Overland Park’s largest outdoor pool facilities featuring a zero-depth entry, cooling fountains, diving boards, a 60-foot-long family slide and a twisting slide, 25-meter lap lane, youth pool and a large sand area for playing. Plus it has cabana-style shaded seating and an adult patio area, helping make it a popular summer spot for both families with kids and swimmers looking for a more relaxed pool day.
