KC Kids, Save Those Glue Bottles This School Year

Countless aluminum cans and newspapers are recycled every year, but now there is a comprehensive program to recycle glue sticks and bottles. That’s right – classrooms nationwide are recycling Elmer’s glue sticks and bottles by dropping them off at a local Walmart® as part of the Elmer’s Glue Crew Recycling Program™. Throughout the school year students can wash out empty glue bottles, collect them and then bring them to Walmart® beginning on Earth Day. For information on how your school can participate, visit www.ElmersGlueCrew.com.

Area Kids Can Volunteer Time While Saving Our Planet

Best Price Boxes sells gently used moving boxes and then pays you money to return the moving boxes when you are finished. Kids are really getting involved in the business. Children and parents can go out on trash days and pick up all the used boxes put out on curbs. They then bring them into the stores where they are paid cash for the boxes and then go out and collect some more! The kids enjoy “running” their own business, earning money and volunteering their time. Best Price Boxes has locations in Overland Park and Lee’s Summit. Visit www.BestPriceBoxes.com for more information.

Black Hoof Park Opens in Lenexa

Enjoy late summer by spending a day at Lenexa’s newest park, Black Hoof Park. It is located on Monticello Rd. between 83rd St. and Prairie Star Pkwy. The park covers 210 acres and includes the 35-acre deep-water Lake Lenexa. Some of the many things for your family to do at the park include walking or biking the trail system that stretches nearly five miles, fishing in the lake, picnicking and playing and climbing at the playground. Keep your eyes open; you may see deer, coyotes, red foxes, birds, butterflies, rattlesnakes, frogs and lizards in their natural habitats.

Keep Retainers Safe When Going Back to School

My dad would have loved this product as I managed to lose five retainers in my younger days. Now you can eliminate the headache of a lost retainer with the Retainer Saver, a discreet wearable device that provides a safe, sanitary place for your child’s retainer to be temporarily placed on while she eats or has it out of her mouth. Parents love that the Retainer Saver attaches easily to their child's clothing, sports bag or backpack, and kids no longer have to hear the dreaded words, "What, you lost/broke your retainer again!?"

As they head back to school, both parents and children in Bonner Springs are celebrating the opening of a brand new library. The new building is four times larger than the previous library, has much more parking and twice as many computers. The new library also contains a children’s play area, a living room with a fireplace and a reading roundhouse, a circular room that can be used for story times and other children's programs.
