3 Helpful Household Hints from Grandma

Over the years, my grandmother has become my housekeeping role model... what I aspire to be. Her home is always SPOTLESS (okay, she would say this isn't true... but it is true), 100% comfortable and inviting, and cozy. People always feel welcome in her home and it's always clean. That dynamic is HARD to achieve and I have a LONG way to go... but thanks to her years of expertise in being the best home maker (emphasis on the word HOME and not house) that I have ever had the privilege to know... I've decided that I need to make a list of the little tips and tricks she's taught me over the years. To begin my list, these are three of my favorite tips from my grandmother.

1. To easily clean hard-to-scrub pans, add a drop or two of dish soap and add enough water to cover bottom of pan, and bring to a boil. After it boils for a bit, clean it as you normally would in dishwater. The hard-to-scrub pan will be much easier to clean.

2. I saw this on Martha Stewart, but Grandma had been using the technique for years, and Martha & Grandma are both correct... it works! Simply follow these instructions for folding a fitted sheet and they'll neatly stack in any linen closet!

3. The very best solution for diaper rash is simply using a bit of cornstarch (wow! this was so much better and faster than any diaper cream could ever be.... cornstarch or good old-fashioned baby powder are the way to go)!

Now, what are your favorite household hints? Please share!
