"After my meeting, Mom."

Last week, we enjoyed visits to Kaleidoscope, the fountains at Crown Center, the new spraygrounds in Grandview, a class at Burr Oak Woods Nature Center, a summer movie, and multiple visits with friends. It was a super fun week, but it demanded a "low-key" weekend... at least for me!

On Saturday, we stopped by the library and then took a class at Lowe's (if you haven't checked out Lowe's FREE Build and Grow Workshops for Kids, they are truly fantastic... the U.F.O.'s the girls made this week were really cute and great fun). After that, we spent most of the weekend at home. I caught up on chores, tried to get ahead on some work, and spent quality time with the girls. We read a ton of books, played our favorite games (Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders, Memory, Pig Tails, Old Maid, Uno, Jenga, Fishing, Hungry Hippos, and others I'm probably forgetting), colored, sculpted with play-dough (I'm raising budding modern artists), played My Little Pony, and dress up. Mostly, it was time to relax and enjoy quality time at home. Part of the time, I played with the girls, and part of the time I worked while they played together.

Sunday afternoon, I decided to take a break from work and offered to play a few more games with the girls before bed. My oldest replied, "Sorry, Mom. I can't. I'm busy with a meeting with the Magazine I work for. I'll have to play with you later."

I took that as a compliment. A compliment? Why, you may ask... well it's simple: 1) it's very flattering that, at least at this point in her life, she'd like to do what I do (work for a Magazine), and 2) my children NEVER decline my offers to play with them, which must mean their "Mom Time Tanks" were full.... no matter what else I accomplished this weekend, I achieved that.

Oh, and if you were wondering... it was just a matter of minutes before I was informed that, "The Princess I was interviewing for my article couldn't come to the meeting. She had a ball to go to, so I guess I can play now Mom."
