It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Did you hear that sound? It’s me, letting out a huge sigh of relief. The reason? School has ended and summer is here! I LOVE summer break-the relaxed pace, not being a slave to the school schedule, wondering if it is my day for carpool or if I need to pack a lunch in the morning or if I have enough uniform shirts cleaned for the week. Just wondering about what we should do each day. I enjoy waking up and not having a day packed full of things to do.

Our first day of summer break was a perfect day. I slept in (which meant skipping Jazzercise), had a leisurely breakfast, did morning chores, took Ally to a play date. Came home and worked while Tori entertained herself. Took a walk with Tori to Walgreens to pick up a prescription (and some water balloons). Ate lunch together and then Ally came home. Filled up water balloons, set up slip and slide; I worked while the girls played outside for hours. Had an ice cream treat and then had a relaxed dinner together as a family. For me, it just doesn’t get any better than this. We have lots of fun ideas for the summer and are excited about all the things to do in KC, but honestly, if every summer day were like this one, I would be content.

Hope everyone has a great and safe holiday weekend and THANK YOU to all the fine men and women who have served our country.
