Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy

by

Every January I find myself talking about one of my all-time favorite books. It’s probably on my mind because it’s a book that was designed to be read a few pages at a time all year long. Simple Abundance was given to me years ago by one of my students as an end of the year gift. I remember looking it over and deciding to set it aside to begin six months later so I could start it with the arrival of the new year It wasn’t long after I began enjoying it that I found myself making some of the small changes it suggested. I also found myself going to the bookstore to buy multiple copies of the book as I’d decided to give it to several of my close friends as birthday gifts. I think I must have helped that book remain on the best seller’s list, now that I look back at how many copies I purchased!

Each month Sarah Ban Breathnach chooses a different area on which to focus. From the discovery of your authentic self and natural talents to room by room re-organization, wonderful suggestions abound. Each month ends with a suggested list of Joyful Simplicities for that month -- seasonally appropriate ideas to make life easier and help us appreciate the little things in life.

The popularity of this book prompted the author to write The Simple Abundance Journal of Gratitude and The Simple Abundance Companion for us to enjoy alongside the original title.

Whether you decide to start it now or in July, it’s a fabulous book that helps one get a little more organized, appreciate all that we have a little bit more, and learn to slow down just enough to enjoy the abundance that life has provided.

P.S. Katie W. probably never realized how much this book came to mean to me and how many times I’ve re-read it. I think I’ll drop a note in the mail to let her know!
