1)     Brookside Art Annual. This art show is fun for the entire family. Children’s Activities are available on Saturday and Sunday. Food booths are operated by local restaurants. Light music and performances.

2)     Pet Pals at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. Activities include dog safety, Frisbee dogs, police dogs, and agility and herding demonstrations. Participants are encouraged to bring canned cat and dog food and paper towels to donate to Animal Haven. Please lave your pets at home. Local animal businesses and organizations will have booths throughout the farm.

3)     28th Annual Kids’ Fishing Derby. The Kids’ Fishing Derby is open to children 2-15. Bring your pole, bait, and bucket. Prizes awarded to winners. A casting clinic and other demonstrations will help children learn techniques to improve their fishing success. Registration required.

5)     Fiesta Kansas City. Celebrate Hispanic Culture with authentic food, entertainment, contests, and music. The festival features a Family Area with inflatables and activities just for children.

6)     Target Family Day at the Nelson. Enjoy Mother’s Day at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The museum offers free admission and in honor of Mother’s Day, you can enjoy free performances, artist demonstrations,  and children’s activities.

7)     Turkey Creek Festival. This festival features family fun for all ages. A Parade, Pancake breakfast, Concessions, 5K Run, Live Music, Kids’ Activity Zone, Craft Fair and more.

9)     Celebration at the Station. The Kansas City Symphony Salutes our troops with an All-American concert followed by a spectacular fireworks display over Liberty Memorial. Bring lawn chairs and pack a picnic. This is a wonderful family tradition to celebrate freedom and honor America’s best and brightest.

10)A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival’s Teen Company will perform a shortened version of the Bard’s work for FREE. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and refreshments to enjoy this classic performance under the stars.
