What This Mom Can't Do

Now don’t get me wrong, there are many things that I can do as a mom, but today I thought I mention a few things that I can’t do. For example, I can’t make homemade lemon sorbet or chili. I also don’t tell a funny joke very well, nor can I cut the grass (although I tried once-it didn’t go well). This mom has no idea how to get a running toilet to stop. I also don’t stop at Quik Trip or Walgreens just for a treat. I can’t put together a bike with training wheels, a backyard play set or a desk (and then take it apart when this mom decides she doesn’t like it and then put together a 2nd desk late at night in time for a  birthday surprise for a seven-year-old).

No, there are plenty of things this mom can’t do. And that’s where dad comes in. In addition to being the strongest and funniest member of our family (according to a recent poll conducted by our four-year-old) he brings a balance and wisdom to our roles as parents that I couldn’t do without. I’m so thankful that in addition to a wonderful husband, I got a wonderful father for our girls.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. May your day be as special as you are to your family.
