International Goof Off Day

by

March 22 is International Goof Off Day… sounds like a holiday invented by Ferris Bueller! In the spirit of the classic film, take a day off and do things Ferris would do…. Well maybe not everything Ferris would do.

Ferris and pals spent the day sight-seeing at major local attractions. They visited the Art Institute of Chicago, so take some time to appreciate art at one of our local galleries. Admission is free at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Nerman Museum and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. The pals also checked out their city’s tallest buildings.

Explore KC’s skyline with a visit to the National World War I Museum and Memorial and take a trip to the top of the tower for a great view of the city. Or, visit KCMO’s City Hall, where you can visit the top of the building for 360-degree views of downtown. Prefer green grass? Visit Cosentino’s in the Power & Light District and take the elevator to the rooftop park where you can enjoy a stroll and see the city.

Next, Bueller went to Wrigley Field to catch a ballgame. It’s not quite baseball season, but you can spend some time at the batting cages at Paradise Park in Lee’s Summit or the Kansas City Sports Club in Lenexa. Finally, Ferris joined a local parade and performed "Danke Schoen," and the Beatles' "Twist and Shout." Put your own twist on this way to goof off by challenging your family to some karaoke or a lip-sync battle at home. Or, if you’re in the mood to actually twist and shout, head to Sky Zone or Urban Air for a great time at one of our city’s indoor trampoline parks. Whatever you do, let your hair down, relax and have a great day!
