Candy Heart Frame

Valentine Picture Frame

A cute and creative Valentine’s Day craft idea popped into my head the other day when the girls started asking for bags of candy from the “holiday” aisle at Wal-Mart. I don’t mind them having a few pieces, but beyond that none of us need an entire bag! So I decided we’d craft with candy – and maybe nibble while we work? The great thing about a bag of candy hearts and a glue gun is it is a cheap (and adorable!) way to decorate anything for Valentine’s Day. We created this picture frame, using a plain crafting frame from Wal-Mart. But, you could also make hair clips and even rings.

My frame didn’t turn out perfect (a hard part about crafting with the girls sometimes is letting go of it looking “just right.”) But, it was simple and just took some patience. We decided on a color pattern and started gluing left to right. On the second row, we flipped the hearts upside-down to create a brick-like effect. We continued that way all the way to the bottom. Then, just add a loveable photo and you have a darling gift for a grandparent or other special loved one.
