Winter-Really?

I need it to snow! Really, I do! I really need it to snow!

Now, I am not a fan of winter weather, despite the fact that I have lived in either Kansas or Missouri most of my life. I don’t like cold weather and I am not a big fan of snow either. I don’t like driving in the snow and ice, I can do without shoveling the walk, and frankly, I would be fine if we just skipped winter all together and just went straight from fall to spring.

I really need it to snow though.

Although I don’t personally like the snow, my kids love it and this whacky winter weather we have experienced so far this winter is absolutely driving them crazy. Sure, they are enjoying the fact that they have been able to ride their bikes and scooters, they haven’t had to wear winter coats, and they can just go outside and run around, but what they really want is some snow. They want to bundle out and head out into the powdery white and build snowmen and snow forts. They want to make snow angels. They want to enjoy a nice mug of hot chocolate to warm them up after coming in out of the cold. Mostly, they want to go sledding.

I really, really need it to snow!

I am not asking for a lot of snow, just four or five inches. Heck, we don’t even need that much! I would be happy with two to three inches right now. Just enough to cover the grass on the neighbors hill so the kids can go sledding. I don’t even need it to stick around very long, just a couple of hours and then it can melt away for all I care.

I really, really, really need it to snow.

I don’t know if I can take it anymore. Each and every day since the middle of December, my youngest son asks me when it is going to snow. He then goes on a ten to fifteen minutes diatribe about how it is unfair that it hasn’t snowed yet, that he wants to go sledding, that he wants a snow day. He takes it as a personal affront that the weather isn’t cooperating with his plans. He wants snow! He needs snow! He is going to keep asking me to make it snow! If we go all winter without enough snow to go sledding, I don’t think he will ever forgive Mother Nature, or me.

Please let it snow!
