This summer, some local pools and waterparks are opening with special policies in place for the safety of our community. Other local facilities have chosen not to open.
This is your guide to pools and waterparks in the KC Metro for Summer 2020.

Belton Memorial Park
We are excited to open the Outdoor Water Park on Monday, June 1. To prepare, we have spent lots of time training staff and getting all of our procedures and safeguards in place.
For now, the Water Park will be open for season pass renewals and new passes and day passes for Belton, Raymore and Peculiar residents only (proof of residency required).
To help answer potential questions, we have put together information on what you can expect when you visit the Water Park.

Gladstone Municipal Outdoor Pool
The City of Gladstone is happy to announce that the Outdoor Municipal Pool will be opening on June 29 to Gladstone residents and Gladstone Community Center members only. Due to the limited season, season passes will not be available and all season passes purchased for the 2020 season will be refunded.
Residents and community center members will be required to register and pay online for a 2 ½ - hour session. To help encourage social distancing outside of family members, a maximum of 125 spots per session will be available to start with. The number of spots may increase depending on what phase and/or step of the Clay County Public Health Center’s plan is in effect.
Registration will open on Monday, June 15. Registration online is strongly encouraged at https://gladstonemo.activityreg.com .You can register by phone at (816) 423-4200, but there may be a delay due to high-call volume or in person at the Gladstone Community Center.

Grain Valley Parks & Rec and Aquatic Center
The Grain Valley Aquatic Center WILL OPEN at 12:00pm on Saturday, June 13! 🎉🎉🎉 Starting 6/13, we will resume our regular hours of operation for the remainder of the pool season (including swim lessons and private pool rentals)! Per Phase 2 of Jackson County's Recover Plan, we will be adhering to and enforcing several restrictions! Indian Trails Aquatic Center
Indian Trails Aquatic Center is set to open to Lenexa residents on Monday, June 8, 2020! The City of Lenexa plans to keep Indian Trails Aquatic Center open this summer, dependent on state and county public health recommendations.
Ad Astra and Flat Rock Creek pools are closed for the 2020 season.
If you’re planning to visit the pool, here’s a few things that you need to know:1) Lenexa residents only. Proof of residency will be required to enter with day passes.2) Midday closure for cleaning. The pool will close at 4-4:30 p.m. for cleaning.3) Bring your own foldable and easily transportable lawn chair. Deck and lounge chairs will not be available this year.4) Pool capacity is 300. If capacity is met, you may have to wait to enter.

Lake Olathe Park
Ready for some summer fun at the lake? The Beach and Sprayground open Friday, June 12.
BEACH-Hours will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday through Sunday.-Admission will be open to Olathe residents only.-Two-hour reservations must be made in advance at https://bit.ly/LakeOlatheRegistration.
SPRAYGROUND-Hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., open daily.-No admission required. Open to public.

Leawood Aquatic Center
City of Leawood Parks & Recreation Plans for Opening Aquatic CenterLeawood Parks & Recreation has largely suspended, and in some cases cancelled, programs and activities over the last two months to help limit the spread of the new coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19). Staff has worked hard to develop responsible operating plans as we aim for the safe, gradual opening of the Leawood Aquatic Center.As the Governor and the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners have recommended and encouraged compliance with the Ad Astra: A Plan to Reopen Kansas, we will continue to follow the plan.We are currently working toward an opening of the Aquatic Center on Monday, June 15. The Aquatic Center will be offering three 2-hour swim sessions each day, open to Leawood residents only. Admission fee is $3 per person. Online registration for a session will be required at least 24 hours in advance at the following site https://webtrac.leawood.org. If you do not have a household account in our system, you will need to submit your household for approval a minimum of 72 hours prior to your visit to the Aquatic Center. Please be sure to include all members of your household on your household account during set-up. If household members are not on the account, they will not be able to visit the Aquatic Center this season.We are hoping to start conducting swim lessons starting Monday, July 6. Please note, this is an admission fee as opposed to a “swim fee” all guests are required to pay to enter the facility, regardless of age.

Liberty Community Center Pools
We hope you are as excited for June 1 to arrive as we are! Following the Clay County Public Health Center's (CCPHC) COVID-19 Recovery Plan guidelines, the Liberty Community Center (LCC) will re-open for members and Silver Sneakers members only. Here are a few highlights of what you can expect:
- No change in facility hours of operation.- Please limit use of the facility to 90 minutes.- Temperature checks of all staff and guests entering the building.- Liability waiver will be required upon entering the facility on your first visit.- Youth ages 15 and under must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult age 19+.- Companion Care Locker Room will be open for restroom use and pool access.- Top floor restrooms open for use.- 50% occupancy as outlined in Phase 2, Step 2 of the CCPHC Recovery Plan- Modified group exercise class schedule with limited capacity and advance online registration.- Indoor pool lap lanes are available with one person per lane.- Outdoor pool will be open with 90 minute swim sessions starting at 12 p.m.- Closed areas include the Silver Center, Child Watch, Locker Rooms, Hot Tub, Sauna, Rock Wall, Gymnasium, and Water Fountains (bottle fillers available).

Mill Creek Pool
Mill Creek Pool will open to Olathe residents with restrictions on June 12, 2020.
Residents will be required to register and pay online for a two-hour block. A maximum of 75 spots per time slot will be available at this time. In addition to regular cleaning throughout the day, the facility will be cleaned the 30 minutes between each swim time.

Riverside Community Center Pool
The 3,750-square-foot pool features a zero-depth entrance for the little ones, diving boards for the bigger kids and a splash & play area for everyone.

Roe Park
10400 Roe, Overland Park, KansasThe Roe Park splash pad sits on the former Roe Pool site at 10400 Roe.
There are several fountains and spray features at the splash pad, which can be activated by pressing or stepping on large buttons on the ground.
There are also two playgrounds for young and older children, a nature play area, restrooms, shelters, a walking trail, an open field, and baseball and softball fields at Roe Park.

Sapling Grove Park
8210 Grant, Overland Park, KansasSapling Grove Park, at 8210 Grant, was renovated in late 2017 and now includes a splash pad you can activate by pressing your hand on a podium pad.
There is also a playground with a basket swing and balance beam, shelter, walking trail, and restrooms at Sapling Grove Park.

Shawnee Mission Park Marina
Beach & Marina Update:
In response to COVID-19, the Shawnee Mission Park Marina has modified operations for the 2020 season to encourage physical distancing and a safe environment for visitors and staff. The marina opened daily for the summer season on June 1. The Kill Creek Park Marina is scheduled to open June 20, and the Shawnee Mission Park Beach is expected to open on June 12. Not all of these facilities operate daily throughout the summer, but all will end their regular summer seasons on Aug. 9.
Hours for the Shawnee Mission Park Marina are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Boat rentals will be offered in one-hour increments at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. Rentals must be completed online in advance at JCPRD.com/marinas, and reservations close one hour prior to the actual rental time. Boat rentals will be offered every other hour to allow an hour in between for staff to sanitize the facility, boats, and equipment. The marina will close at 4 p.m. on July 4 and Aug. 9, which will be the last day of operations for the season.
The Kill Creek Park Marina, which operates out of the Kill Creek Park Beach, will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, also through Aug. 9. The marina is closed Monday through Friday. Boat rentals must also be scheduled online in advance.
Both marinas offer boat rentals including canoes, pedal boats, kayaks, and paddle boards. Rental rates are listed at JCPRD.com/marinas.
Other modifications at the marina for the season include one-way walkways to enter and exit the dock, and patrons will be asked to enter and exit the boat without assistance from staff members.
Shawnee Mission Park Beach will open for its summer season on June 12, and operations have also been modified. The beach will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and visitors can choose from one of two time blocks offered from noon to 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Space is limited to 75 visitors per time block to allow for physical distancing. Reservations will need to be completed online in advance. All patrons will be asked to leave the facility once their session has concluded.
The Kill Creek Park Beach will not be open to swimmers this year, and open water swim training will not be offered at either beach this season.
Regular daily beach admission rates for children 12 and under is $4 for Johnson County residents or $4.50 for nonresidents. Admission for adults 13 to 59 is $6 for Johnson County residents or $6.50 for nonresidents and ages 60 and older are $4 for Johnson County residents or $4.50 for nonresidents.

Summit Waves
Attention Lee’s Summit! The news you’ve all been waiting for…Summit Waves WILL open this summer! Get ready to “make a splash” and check out our brand new, 8,000 square foot wave pool beginning Saturday, June 27!
Hours of operation this season will be noon to 7pm daily. Attendance will be limited to residents with season passes. Until further notice, single visit passes will not be sold.
Due to the shortened season, LSPR is reducing the cost of season passes to $50. If you purchased a season pass prior to April 1, you will automatically receive a partial refund. Season passes can be purchased at Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation Community Centers during operating hours or from noon to 5pm, Monday through Friday at LSPR's Administration office in City Hall. Patrons should enter the building using the 3rd Street entrance. Residents who purchased season passes in previous years may renew their 2020 season pass online.
Summit Waves operations will be subject to capacity limitations and social distancing requirements established by the Jackson County Health Department.

The View Community Center
Our indoor lap pool is OPEN for lap swimming only for members only. Current hours are Monday-Friday 10am-5pm until further notice. We hope to expand our hours and open the leisure pool & splash park in the coming weeks. Thank you all for being so patient with us during this phased reopening!
