Beat Bugs: A Musical Adventure at The Coterie
Review
Beat Bugs: A Musical Adventure is showing at The Coterie through May 19, 2019.
This new children's musical inspired by the popular Netflix cartoon series, Beat Bugs, is the perfect spring production for young children. The musical is vibrant, colorful, and full of imagination taking kids on a musical journey with songs and music made famous by The Beatles.
The Coterie takes the audience into the brightly colored vibrant "backyard" world of the Beat Bugs where magnificently whimsical balloon art and beautiful lighting create strawberry fields and fireflies and creative sets show a world where bugs inhabit milk cartons and play in a band.
Five insect friends, Walter, Buzz, Jay, Crick, and Kumi live together in the backyard and come to discover strawberry fields "that go on forever." This beautiful, delicious, and magical field is their favorite place. But, alas, the fields are threatened by the evil villainous stink bug who plans to take over the fields on his quest to destroy happiness. The Beat Bugs strategize together to rescue their precious fields and teach the stink bugs a lesson in love and friendship.
Parents will enjoy familiar tunes including, "All You Need is Love," "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Good Day Sunshine," and "Yellow Submarine" among other classic Beatles tunes. Kids will love the fun-filled renditions performed by the vibrant Beat Bugs on their inflatable instruments.
During our production, children laughed, sang, and were mesmerized by this fun-filled entertaining production.
I attended the show with my seven and nine-year-old daughters and both enjoyed the show... especially the seven-year-old. This show is especially enjoyable for young children who love singing and dancing. The production felt like a cartoon came to life right before our eyes. The energetic cast, delightful music, and whimsical sets put us all in the mood to enjoy the best of spring as we anticipate summer break!
Beat Bugs is a fun-filled show perfect for a family outing with little ones! You can't help but leave smiling after this upbeat cheerful production!
