Kansas City’s outdoor summer theater, Starlight, is bringing six shows to the stage this summer. The season lineup kicks off with a family blockbuster that TIME Magazine named its number one show of 2013: Matilda The Musical. Next, romance is in the air when The Bridges of Madison County brings the bestselling novel and Oscar-nominated movie to life on Starlight’s Cohen Community Stage. Audiences then will step back in time to Prohibition-era New York City when Bullets over Broadway roars into town with big laughs and colorful characters. The fourth show in Starlight’s season is a family favorite. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will break the evil spell and reconfirm that love conquers all. Then it’s back to New York City where the contemporary musical If/Then spins a deeply moving story of life paths taken and not taken. And finally, wrapping up the season is 2014’s Tony Award-winner for best musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, a show that promises to leave guests giggling all the way home.
