Are you looking forward to summer? Maybe you are looking forward to not having school, hanging out with friends, going to the pool, or eating ice cream. Maybe some of you are wondering, “What I am going to do this summer?” I have the perfect answer: Christian Youth-in-Action.
Christian Youth-in-Action
If you have asked Jesus to be your personal Savior from sin and you are looking for a way to serve Him this summer, Christian Youth-in-Action is just for you. Christian Youth-in-Action (CYIA) is for youth ages 12-18 (if you are 12-13 skip to the next paragraph). For teens entering 9th grade this fall through seniors graduating this spring, you would participate in a two week, intense training in Hannibal, MO (near St. Louis). This training equips you to teach a program for kids called 5-Day Club. At CYIA you learn how to teach the different elements of the 5-Day club such as the Bible lesson, missions time, games, memory verse, songs, and more! But don’t worry, CYIA isn’t just work. We also have group sport time and team building activities. We have worship in the evening and morning and evening devotions. After you complete your training, you return to the Kansas City area to teach the 5-Day clubs. You would sign up for a minimum of three weeks and teach about three clubs a day. The 5-Day clubs for the children are held at summer school programs, daycares, apartment complexes, community centers, and homes.
If you are 12-13, that would mean that you are entering 7th or 8th grade in the Fall, you can participate in Jr. Christian Youth-in-Action. By participating in Jr. CYIA, you would become missionary assistants to the full CYIA-ers. You would go to a two day training in Warrenton, MO where you also would learn how to teach missions stories, games, songs, and etc. Starting on June 24, you would start teaching a minimum of two weeks of 5-Day clubs with the other CYIA students.
If you have believed in Jesus as your Savior and enjoy working with children, then you can make an eternal difference this summer by participating in Christian Youth-in-Action. Christian Youth-in-Action is a lot of fun and a lot of hard work. But in the end it is rewarding because you know that you have done something with your summer that has impacted eternity; you have shared the Good News of the Savior with a lost world.
