Review: Blue Man Group at Starlight
Entertaining audiences since 1987, Blue Man Group is a world-wide phenomenon. The Blue Men are famous for their unique brand of music, comedy, and multi-media entertainment and this September, they bring their style to Starlight Theatre. For those unfamiliar, each show features three men in bald caps and blue makeup performing the entire show without a spoken word and remaining always in character, as though they were new inhabitants of planet earth making their first ever introduction to our world of technology. The show incorporates a range of music (tribal, classical, modern pop, and rock 'n roll) with Blue Man's signature custom instruments, the use of technology (the Blue Men marvel at new apps), and audience participation.
Front row attendees are encouraged to wear ponchos as the show includes splattering paint, and twinkies. Audience members participation is a big part of the show with several routines requiring the comedy of the the Blue Man Group interacting with members of the audience.

"The traditions of clowning, miming, Vaudeville, improvisation, and cultural mythology play a part in the development of the Blue Man character and help to create a communal experience for both audience and performer," says Jesse Nolan, Music Director, Drummer and Percussionist.
The show is full of humor and impressive tricks. An audience favorite features the Blue Men catching paintballs in their mouths as they are thrown by a cast mate, then squirting the paint from their mouths to create modern art. At other times, they pull members of the audience to participate in the creation of modern art. And, the show is full of music much of it featuring the Blue Man Group's custom one-of-a-kind instruments made of pipes and tubes.
The best part of the show is always the finale! Don't leave early for this one or you'll miss the concluding dance party!
